Last Wednesday, a report out of London once again listed examples of gobbledygook uttered by famous people such as George W. Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger. My favorite Bushism is this one: "[Our enemies] never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." I think I'm going to add this one to my ESL 36 lesson plan when we next work on a grammar unit called "So, Too, Neither, Not either, and But."
Don't you like it when we have such authentic examples to show our ESL students that even famous native speakers sometimes mangle English?
Besides English grammar, you might find material for teaching clarity in communication, logic, critical thinking, etc.
