Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures

I remember reading about how one Rancho Bernardo High School teacher sold advertising on his test sheets. With the state financial picture dimming further, more and more of our community colleges' feeder school districts are taking desperate measures to raise needed funds, as evidenced by an LA Times piece that appeared yesterday. Sadly, it seems that even in this maddening race for more sponsorships, educators in well-connected schools still have an inherent advantage over those in poor districts. Don't you think?

Couldn't we do fundraising for our department? Also, students would donate items if we put out a wish list (just as k-8 teacher do).

Not sure if CC students and teachers are doing fundraising as you described. It seems CCs are very different from K-8. We are very heavily regulated. Also, we are dealing with adult students.
