Deferred Action for Minors Without Documentation

On June 15, President Obama announced that the US Dept. of Homeland Security would not deport certain DREAM Act-eligible undocumented youth. Under a directive from the secretary of DHS, these youth will be given temporary relief called "deferred action," which will be valid for two years and may be renewed at the end of the two years. Individuals who receive deferred action may apply for and obtain employment authorization. There is going to be an informational meeting at CSUSM this Saturday, 9/29, regarding this new policy. It might be of interest to some of your students, so please announce to your class. More details of the meeting can be found here: http://25livepub.collegenet.com/calendars/csusm-featured-events#/?i=1.

A big thank you to Sharon for bringing in this meeting information to our attention.
