Subject: ESL Recognition Event

On Thursday, December 16 the Performing Arts Department supported the English as a Second Language Recognition event held at the Student Union. One of the ESL Students, Henry Alfredy Gaspar, is from Guatemala. While a student he Guatemala he learned to play the marimba and flute. For the last several weeks Henry has been practicing on our marimba, and last night he performed for an audience of approximately 250 people. Henry performed El Rey Quiche, which is a traditional Guatemalan marimba and flute piece.
It was a great performance, and an exciting evening.

Thank you

A huge thank you to Tom, Ellen, Kimberly, and the Music Dept. for your selfless support! Henry’s performance would not have been possible without it!

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Dear Lee,

Thank you for reaching out to us. It makes me feel great to hear that we are all on the same page with regards to student success. Please encourage Henry to come see me if he would like to be involved in other music classes at the college.
