Smilebox

Smilebox is a free software program for making multimedia digital scrapbooks, ecards, calendars, and the like. The download is easy, and the process of assembling a photo album is pretty straightforward.

Once the software is downloaded to your computer, it produces an icon that sits on your task bar. To start making a scrapbook, for example, you will open the Smilebox program, select a template, add photos from your computer to a collection area of the Smilebox program, and then basically drag and drop the photos between the photo collection panel and the assembly panel.

Your finished product is stored on and served from a Smilebox server. You can share the unique link for your product or copy the HTML codes to display your product on a web page.

Like most online gadget sites these days, there are different levels of subscription with the most basic service being free. The trade-off for the free basic level of service is that you will see some ads on the webpage that shows your finished product, but you can tell your friends to ignore the ads. I've found that for my lesson presentation needs, the most basic level suffices.

Click here to see a scrapbook I made showing impressionist art, which is what we've just read about in one of my classes. Remember you should ignore the ads, and you can click on each painting to enlarge it.
