Collaborative Celebration of St. Patrick's Day
I would like to share with you a collaborative celebration of St. Patrick's Day done by Angela, Sharon and myself. We first gathered in my class from 5 to 6pm. and then in Angela's and Sharon's combined classes from 7 to 8pm. We discussed, with the students, the history of St. Patrick's Day in the United States and Ireland, compared and contrasted the immigration of the Irish to the United States in the 1840's with that of the Latin Americans in this century. We went over vocabulary, legends and songs. The lyrics of the songs were put on the screen , so we could all sing, sometimes accompanied by a guitar. It was a very worthwhile and enjoyable experience which we hope to do again with other events.
