A semester ago, the noncredit faculty in the evening program in San Marcos instituted a first-ever end-of-the-semester family night event where all nine classes gathered in the Student Union Cafeteria on the last day of the semester to honor student mentors, recognize best students, celebrate learning, and showcase student performance as well as what Palomar has to offer in front of the students' family members and other invited guests.
In the just-ended spring 2014 semester, a similar Recognition Night event, held on May 13, was expanded to include student speeches.
