Read&Write GOLD

Read&Write GOLD is a versatile study aid software program from a company called TextHELP. You can read up on the features of the software here. MiraCosta College has adopted the software and made it available for all of their students to use even at home. An ESL success story at MiraCosta is here. The good news is that Palomar has finally followed MiraCosta's example with a recent purchase of a district-wide unlimited use license which includes home use. Palomar faculty, staff as well as students can download the software for home use by going to www.palomar.edu/dsps/readwrite. Instructions for downloading the software are found on the page, and all that is required is the student's eServices login and password. You as an employee may have to enter your Palomar email address as your username. The not-so-good news is that unlike MiraCosta who distributed a mobile flash drive among its students, Palomar's complete software download takes 1.2 GB memory and up to an hour to complete. And the downloading success rate is spotty. But if you're successful, the great software program will cost you nothing. Palomar also plans to install the software in all the classroom computers.
